Worked for Beech Aircraft and Cessna from 1964-1975. Moved to OKC in 1975. Was a stay at home mom and community volunteer. Went back to work at age 57 raising money and awareness for non-profits. Started a special event/wedding planning business. Have taught piano since 1960.

Married my husband in 2010 and moved to Georgetown, Texas.
School Story

Falling asleep in study hall. The two Mr. Johnston's began talking to me on their microphones as the bell was about to ring. I raised my sleepy head to find I had on three neckties (Alfred Beard and others and placed their ties around my neck-it was a game day) some funky perfume the guys sprayed on me from a girls handbag, and red marks on my eye where they had tried to open it with a ruler.
Also, peeking in the boys gym on our way to swim. One of the coaches grabbed my hand and dragged me into the gym where the boys were lined up for roll call.

It only took me 50 plus years to track down high school friend, Leslie Harrell (Bolinger)
This is she with her husband who passed away two years ago. She had been living in Longmont, Colorado and Arizona. She is even more beautiful than I remember her in high school!

Alfred and I sat beside each other in Mrs. Wilkinson's typing class at Pleasant Valley.  While we were typing 'the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog' my fast moving carriage return caused my desk to hit Alfred's causing his books to hit the floor.  Mrs. Wilkinson said, "Karen Barnett, just how much noise can you make?"  My answer wasn't satisfactory and she sent me to the principle's office.  Everyone loved Alfred.  So sad to hear this.

Linda-what a beautiful memory you shared regarding us "Arkansas Avenueites." So sorry to hear you had a stroke, but so grateful you're OK.  I just looked over the deceased list on this site and it's so sad to have lost so many class members, and especially sad for those who died in their teens and twentys.  I feel so blessed to have grown up with so many quality people at our little grade school.  It is wonderful to still keep in touch with our childhood friends and memories.

My son, Gavin put me up at the Ritz Carlton in Jupiter when I made a visit. Very nice and very enjoyable time with my son. He's a professional caddy and is presently in Martha's Vinyard.

My beautiful daughter and me at a party a few years back. She passed away May 31, 2013 after being diagnosed with liver and bile duct cancer a year ago.

My 12 yr old granddaughter has been racing since she was 6. Gives the boys a run for their money. Some of you might remember I had a lead foot in high school. I may have passed on a gene!
