I married right out of high school, unfortunately, that only lasted 4 1/2 years, but I did get my baby girl from it. I met Herb & married him in 1968. If there ever were a perfect marriage, it was ours. We were best friends, always had fun, we were just blessed! I got to be a stay at home mom, which for me was a blessing, because my Mother had to work.
Herb was in corporate management with Eqifax, so we were transferred a lot! Kansas City for 2 years, Denver for 5 years, then to Des Moines for 3 years. He retired the first time in 1984 & we moved to Lake of the Ozarks. We stayed there until 1990. Herb wasn't much on retirement, so he renewed his real estate license & went to work. I went to work for the Denny Hilton Country Music show, working in the ticket office. I loved it, getting to meet all the people & the perks that came with it! Living on the lake took it's toll on Herb, as he developed asthma while living there. That was really hard on both of us, but his doctor said to get out of there because it was like living in a giant petri dish!!! He told us to go to Arizona, but we came back to Kansas City instead.
Our first grandbaby was due in March of 1989 & we didn't want to be that far away. They were in Des Moines. He started allergy injections & within a year his asthma was under control, so we stayed & bought a house in Blue Springs
For some reason, God decided he needed Herb more then I did, & after a lengthy illness, he passed away in 2006. Anyone who says it gets easier with time is crazy! You just learn to adjust!
I did volunteer work at some of the animal shelters years ago, but quit because I kept trying to bring home the animals. That was causing problems at home with Herb. As he said, you can't save all of them! All though, since he has passed, I have gone from 2 pets to 6! I'm sure he is spinning in his box on the fireplace!! Anyway, I got sidetracked, I'm going back to volunteering & foster care for all the furbabies out there that need help.
Okay, I have rattled enough!

School Story

Always the pep rallies, the football & basketball games! Drama club with Miss Berry & stage makeup. Canoeing on the river! The River Festival, when it was done by North High.

Yes, thank-you for remembering Louis. I have many good memories of him. I was in college when my mother sent me the paper about his death. Dorothy Knight Ryman (Louis's Mother's name was also Dorothy)

Well, my dear friend, yesterday, September 1, 2014, marked 49 years since you left this earth. You are missed every day. I have so many great memories of our youth & teen years. Not everyone knows we shared a playpen as toddlers when our Moms' couldn't keep track of us!! Many Saturday evenings shooting baskets in your driveway, 1955 Garland. Soooo many great memories!!  Love you always.

For those of you that don't know, Louie was killed in Viet Nam, September 1,1965. He had won top marksmanship & joined an elite reconnaissance, team. They were out on a mission & he stepped on a land mine. He died instantly.
